Our intention, however, is to point to the idea that multidimensional and multifaceted experiences of organizational life are reﬂected by a diverse set of theoretical ‘takes’ on the nature of lived experience in social settings. Of course there is a legitimate and sometimes necessary set of rational/positivist lenses through which the researcher can understand and evaluate experience, for example when cool detached inquiry or evaluation is required.
What started as a playful musing, to my surprise, ended up illuminating in a particularly creative and, at times humorous way, key elements of the experiences of this social worker and of many others in the study. The respondent told a sorry story. In her place of work she was greatly outnumbered by health professionals, and she experienced a great deal of difﬁculty in getting her voice heard.
